Sri Lanka (SL) will face Bangladesh (BAN) in the third ODI of the three-match series on Tuesday, July 8, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The series is leveled on 1-1. Sri Lanka won the first match by 77 runs after posting a total of 244 runs.
In the second ODI, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat. Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy scored a half-century each. Bangladesh were bundled out for 248 runs in 45.5 overs. Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers and took four wickets for 35 runs in nine overs.
Sri Lanka lost their first wicket for just six runs. However, Nishan Madushka and Kusal Mendis added 69 runs for the second wicket to help the team bounce back. The team lost four wickets before reaching the 100-run mark. Mendis made 56 runs off just 31 deliveries, while Janith Liyanage contributed 78 runs off 85 deliveries. However, the other batters failed to do much for the team. Sri Lanka were bundled out for 232 runs and lost the match by 16 runs.
Tanvir Islam was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh. The left-arm spinner made his ODI debut in the first match and took a fifer in just his second game. He won the Player of the Match award for his bowling performance. It was the best bowling effort by a Bangladeshi bowler against Sri Lanka.
