They faced New Zealand in a five-match T20I series, and Pakistan managed to win just a single game. They whitewashed Bangladesh in a three-match series next, and Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in the next series by 2-1. In July-August, the team toured the USA to play a three-match series and won two matches in the series. Pakistan faced Afghanistan and the UAE in a tri-series and defeated Afghanistan in the final by 75 runs.
Oman will play a T20I game for the first time since February this year. The team hosted the USA in a three-match series in February this year and lost all three games. Oman is one of the three teams that qualified for the tournament through the qualifier tournament last year. Oman won all four of their group stage matches and faced the UAE in the final. The UAE won the match by 55 runs after posting a total of 204 runs for the loss of four wickets.
