The Blackcaps lost their first three wickets for six runs. Tim Robinson and Daryl Mitchell added 92 runs for the fourth wicket before Mitchell was dismissed for 34 runs off 23 deliveries. Bevon Jacobs joined Robinson in the middle, and the duo added 64 runs for the fifth wicket. Jacobs was run out in the 19th over for 20 runs off 21 deliveries. Robinson finished on 106 runs off 66 deliveries and remained unbeaten. New Zealand posted a total of 181 runs for the loss of six wickets. Ben Dwarshuis was the pick of the bowlers and took two wickets for 40 runs in four overs.
Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head added 67 runs for the first wicket. Head was the first to get dismissed and made 31 runs off 18 deliveries. The duo of Matthew Short and Marsh helped Australia cross the 100-run mark. Short was dismissed in the 12th over, while Marsh got out in the 15th over. Marsh scored 85 runs off 43 deliveries and made the chase easy for the next batters. Tim David remained unbeaten on 21 runs off 12 deliveries, and Australia won the match by six wickets in 16.3 overs. Marsh won the Player of the Match award.
