Fortune Barishal (FBA) will lock horns with Sylhet Strikers (SYL) in the 35th match of the Bangladesh Premier League 2024 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on February 17. Fortune Barishal have won five of their nine games so far and are in third position, while Sylhet Strikers have managed to win just three of their last nine matches and are positioned sixth in the rankings.

Fortune Barishal had played against Durdanto Dhaka in their last encounter, where Fortune Barishal won the toss and elected to bat. Barishal started well with an opening partnership of 76 runs. They had a couple of good partnerships ahead as well and kept a good scoring rate throughout which made them reach a total of 186. Dhaka did not start well with the chase and had lost three wickets within two overs. Alex Ross played a superb knock of 89 off 49 balls, but his knock went in vain as the team lost by 27 runs.

Sylhet Strikers had played against Khulna Tigers in their last encounter, where Khulna Tigers won the toss and elected to bat. They started cautiously but lost Evin Lewis rather quickly but had decent partnerships ahead and looked sturdy by the midway. They did not lose any wickets in the second half but were surprisingly slow limiting their total to 153. Strikers started slow in the chase but overcame that with the coming partnerships. They were easily able to cruise to the total and won by five wickets with an over to spare.

Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium offers a pitch that is helpful to batters in nature. Slower balls and off-cutters can be good weapons in the arsenal of the bowlers. It would be a good contest between the bat and the ball here. Teams prefer to chase the total after winning the toss with the average first innings score being 169.
