In the first ODI of the New Zealand tour of Bangladesh 2026, Bangladesh (BAN) is set to face New Zealand (NZ). A fresh bilateral tour between Bangladesh and New Zealand is set to begin on Friday, April 17, with both teams approaching it from a fresh perspective. The tour will consist of three ODI matches and will conclude on May 2. The series holds significant importance as both teams aim to gain momentum following the recent T20 World Cup. Bangladesh will enter the series under the captaincy of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, while Tom Latham will be leading the New Zealand squad. 

Bangladesh recently defeated Pakistan and is now ready to replicate that success against the new visitors. Additionally, the series is also an effort to prioritise international standard wickets in Mirpur and Chattogram and enhance the quality of play.
