Maxwell’s blistering knock of 120 runs off just 55 deliveries propelled Australia to a formidable total of 241 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd made crucial breakthroughs for the West Indies bowling attack.
In response, West Indies faltered early as opener Brandon King departed cheaply to Josh Hazlewood. Despite contributions from Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran, the team found itself in trouble with the dismissals of Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford for ducks. However, Rovman Powell’s resilient knock of 63 runs off 36 balls and Andre Russell’s quickfire 37 off 16 balls injected momentum into the innings. Despite their efforts, West Indies fell short, managing only 207 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis, Josh Hazlewood, and Spencer Johnson starred with crucial breakthroughs for the Australian side.
