Zimbabwe Tri-Series 2025: Batters to Watch in the 2nd Match of NZ vs SA

Bowler’s sweat when Tim Seifert walks out, fielders’ sweat when Reeza Hendricks walks out, and when Rassie van der Dussen starts batting, you just sit back and watch. It’s game on in Harare as New Zealand and South Africa collide in the second match of the 2025 T20 Tri-Series! And while it’s just another game, there has been enough written about these three, as they continue to get the best of competitions in stats and stats in the hearts of fans. It is a batter’s haven, and these guys are getting ready to blow it up.

Tim Seifert: NZ

Tim Seifert

Let’s start bluntly – a strike rate of 207.5 over the recent five matches is not normal behaviour. It is, in fact, ridiculous. This is Seifert. The New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter is batting like he is playing a game of backyard cricket with a tennis ball. He does not just build an inning; he explodes into an inning. His 249 runs at an outrageous average of 62.25 illustrate a combination of mad power and cool-headedness.

What differentiates Seifert in this format is the timing of when he decides to hit the ball. Whether it’s a slower ball in the powerplay or a back-of-length delivery from a pacer, he has a shot ready for it. His ability to clear the ropes regularly means he is dangerous in Bulawayo, where the square boundaries are short enough to allow some fireworks if he is in the sort of form where his shots already resemble a turbocharged rocket. It’s a problem for South Africa’s bowlers, and its name is Seifert.

Reeza Hendricks: SA

Reeza Hendricks

Now, to contrast, Reeza Hendricks doesn’t go full beast mode like Seifert; he simply slices through bowling attacks with surgical precision. 292 runs from 9 matches with an average of 32.44 at 144.55 strike rate, show reliability and aggression combined.

Hendricks plays the tempo game well. He starts with classical cover drives, square cut, and so forth, then ramps it up once he’s in. He’s South Africa’s anchor amongst chaos, the glue in a batting order which sometimes has too much love for risk. Against New Zealand’s pace-driven attack, his ability to absorb early pressure before cashing in later on may well be the difference between a decent total and a winning one.

Rassie van der Dussen: SA

Rassie van der Dussen

Rassie barely had a sniff of games lately—just 3, but he has done well—82 runs at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 157.69. Not bad for South Africa’s ‘safe’ player for some. He doesn’t smash his way through the middle overs — Rassie dismantles strategies with silent intent.

As Klaasen takes a breather and Miller struggles for impact, van der Dussen could be the surprise game-changer South Africa needs. He knows when to rotate, when to attack, but most importantly, how to bat to the end. For a form of the game that prizes intelligent hitting just as much as crude power, his experience and calm might be just what South Africa needs in a tight chase.

The second game of the Zimbabwe T20 Tri-Series isn’t just a clash of countries, it’s a showdown of batting families. Seifert’s got the sledgehammer, Hendricks the scalpel, and Rassie just wins matches quietly. So, which of these batting beasts will rule the night in Bulawayo? The fearless Kiwi, the stylish opener, or the middle-order wizard? Either way, make sure you’ve got your popcorn ready because there’s sure to be lots of sixes.
