Zaheer Khan's top 3 figures in T20I Cricket

Former India cricketer Zaheer Khan was one of the biggest assets of Indian cricket. Notably, the great left-arm pacer was one of the deadliest bowlers in white-ball format from 2000 to 2014. However, the great cricketer has played a plethora of matches in Test cricket and ODI cricket as compared to the shortest format of the game. The star seamer has only played 17 matches while registering 17 wickets for his side. Check out his top three best bowling spells in the shortest format of the game.

1. 4/19 in 3 Overs vs IRE in 2009 at Nottingham

India’s star bowler Zaheer Khan’s best knock in the shortest format of the game took place on June 10, 2009, against Ireland. Notably, on that day, the great left-arm pacer had scalped four wickets while conceding just 19 runs in three overs to restrict the Irish team to 112/8. Later, while chasing, the MS Dhoni side easily chased down the total with 15 balls to spare. Moreover, the star cricketer was named Player of the Match after the great win.

2. 3/22 in 4 overs vs SA in 2012 at Colombo

Zaheer Khan‘s second-best figure came against South Africa on October 2, 2012, during the T20 World Cup held in Sri Lanka. This was the greatest game ever as Team India registered a 1-run win over the Proteas. The Men in Blue posted 152/6 in the given 20 overs. However, the left-arm pacer’s lethal bowling spell helped restrict them to 151 runs at R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The Maharashtra-born cricketer had scalped three wickets in four overs to guide his side to a crucial win in the marquee event.

3. 2/15 in 4 overs vs SA in 2006 at Johannesburg

The great bowler’s third-highest knock came against South Africa in 2006 in Johannesburg. Notably, on that day, Proteas set up 126 runs on the board. The left-arm pacer had scalped two wickets while conceding only 15 runs to restrict them. Later, while chasing, Team India easily chased down the target and won the game by six wickets.
