WPL 2026 – Predicting the top 3 player battles for match 17

Delhi Capitals lock horns with Gujarat Giants in match No. 17 of the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday, January 27.

Jemimah Rodrigues-led Delhi Capitals are placed second on the points table, with three wins and as many defeats from six games. On the other hand, Gujarat Giants also have an identical win-loss record but are placed third due to an inferior net run rate. These two teams met earlier in the season in Navi Mumbai. Gujarat won the match by four runs, defending a 210-run target.

Let’s take a look at three player battles to look forward to from the upcoming encounter:

1. Sophie Devine vs Nandni Sharma

Sophie Devine is among the leading run-getters this season. The experienced campaigner has amassed 199 runs in six innings at an average of 39.80 and a strike rate of 160.49. She was the Player of the Match the last time these two sides met. Nandni Sharma has impressed with her skill sets so far. She has accounted for 13 wickets in six matches at an average of 14.15 and a strike rate of 10.15. She also has a decent economy rate of 8.36.

2. Lizelle Lee vs Renuka Singh

Lizelle Lee has been the most destructive batter from the Delhi Capitals side this season. She has scored 219 runs in six innings at an average of 36.50 and a strike rate of 150. The wicketkeeper-batter has already registered two half-centuries. She will look to get her team off to a flying start inside the powerplay. However, Renuka Singh will have other ideas. The right-arm seamer might not have been in peak form this season but she is still quite a handful, especially with the new ball. Renuka has taken seven wickets in six games at 23.57.

3. Ashleigh Gardner vs Shree Charani

Ashleigh Gardner will look to lead Gujarat Giants from the front. She has scored 196 runs in six matches at an average of 32.67 and a strike rate of 141.01. If she gives herself a bit of time at the crease to get her eye in, she can make a difference. On the other hand, Shree Charani will want to work her magic through the middle overs and she will be eying the wicket of the dangerous Gardner.
