Women's World Cup 2025: List of award winners

The 13th edition of the Women’s World Cup came to a cracking close on Sunday, November 2 as co-hosts India emerged victorious for the first time in their cricketing history, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the tournament at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

The Women in Blue had finished fourth in the league phase after securing three wins and as many losses with one game washed out due to rain. A day after the win, the Board of Control for Cricket for India (BCCI) announced a sum of INR 51 crore for the players, coaches and support staff.

Shafali Verma, who was drafted into the setup as an injury replacement for Pratika Rawal just prior to the knockouts, was adjudged the Player of the Match of the final for her all-round effort comprising 87 off 78 and 2/36 in seven overs. Shafali’s 87 was also the highest score across Men’s and Women’s ODIs by an Indian player in the final.

Deepti Sharma secured the Player of the Tournament for her contributions with bat and ball. 58 of the 215 runs she scored in the tournament came in the summit clash. On the bowling front, Deepti secured 22 wickets at an economy rate of 5.52. She picked up one four-fer and five-fer each in the tournament.

The captain of the runners-up Laura Wolvaardt ended with 571 runs in nine innings while striking at 98.78. In the process, she went past Alyssa Healy’s tally of 509 runs in 2022 to become the highest run-getter in a single edition of the Women’s World Cup. Wolvaardt also matched Healy’s milesone from the 2022 iteration of scoring hundreds in both the semi-final and final.

Deepti picked up 22 wickets in nine innings, ending up as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker. As usual, she controlled the middle overs well and was a tough customer to get past due to her accuracy and changes of speed in the same over. The spin-bowling all-rounder was followed by Annabel Sutherland (17 wickets in seven innings).
