WCL 2025: Top 3 wicket-takers from the tournament

South Africa Champions faced Pakistan Champions in the final of the World Championship of Legends 2025 on Saturday, August 2, at Edgbaston in Birmingham. South Africa chased down the target of 196 runs in 16.5 overs with nine wickets in hand. AB de Villiers made his third century of the season and won the Player of the Match as well as the Player of the Tournament award. The bowlers had a great outing as well, with Hardus Viljoen and Wayne Parnell picking up two wickets each. JP Duminy played a crucial role with the bat in the final, remaining unbeaten on 50 runs off 28 deliveries. Duminy hit a six to seal the game for the team.

1. Peter Siddle (Australia Champions)

Peter Siddle finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He took 11 wickets in six games at an average of 12.90, an economy of 7.10, and a strike rate of 10.90. He picked seven wickets in the group phase of the tournament, including a three-wicket haul against the eventual champions, South Africa. In the semi-final against South Africa, he picked four wickets for 30 runs in four overs.

2. Wayne Parnell (South Africa Champions)

Apart from the opening game against the West Indies Champions, Wayne Parnell picked at least one wicket in each game this season. In South Africa’s second game against India, Parnell took two wickets without giving any runs. He picked a total of seven wickets in the group stage of the tournament and two wickets each in the semi-final and final. Parnell finished with 11 wickets in seven games at an average of 15.45, an economy of 8.09, and a strike rate of 11.45.

3. Aaron Phangiso (South Africa Champions)

Aaron Phangiso was among the leading wicket-takers by the end of the group stage for South Africa. He took seven wickets in the group stage matches for the Proteas. In the last group stage game against Australia, he picked four wickets for 13 runs in 3.4 overs. It was the best bowling figure by a South African bowler in the tournament.
