WCL 2025: Predicting South Africa Champions XI for match 2

South Africa Champions will take on the West Indies Champions in the second match of the World Championship of Legends 2025 on Saturday, July 19, at Edgbaston. South Africa Champions won two out of five games last season and were in fifth place. The West Indies Champions made it to the semi-final of the tournament and lost the match. Jacques Kallis led the side in the previous season and has been replaced by AB de Villiers. Hashim Amla, Chris Morris, and Albie Morkel are also a part of the squad.

Let’s look at the probable playing XI of the South Africa Champions for the 2nd match of the WCL 2025 –

Top Order: Richard Levi (wk), Dane Vilas, and Hashim Amla

Richard Levi and Dane Vilas were also a part of the South Africa Champions last year and might open the innings for the team. Hashim Amla played in the International Masters League this year and is likely to be a part of the top order.

Middle Order: AB de Villiers (c), JP Duminy, and Albie Morkel

Mr 360, AB de Villiers, will lead the side this year. He might be there in the middle order along with JP Duminy and Albie Morkel. Duminy played for the team last season as well. However, Albie Morkel will return to the field after a long gap. He recently served as the Assistant Coach of the Texas Super Kings in the Major League Cricket.

Lower Middle Order: JJ Smuts and Chris Morris

JJ Smuts and Chris Morris are likely to be there in the lower middle order. Smuts last played in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge Division One in March this year and was the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Morris retired from all forms of cricket in 2022 and will make a comeback like de Villiers.

Bowlers: Wayne Parnell, Hardus Viljoen, and Aaron Phangiso

Wayne Parnell, Hardus Viljoen, and Aaron Phangiso are likely to be a part of the bowling unit. Parnell last played in the CSA T20 Challenge in 2024 wgile Viljoen is still active in domestic cricket and played in first-class and List A competitions in South Africa. Phangiso has also played aplenty in domestic tournaments recently.
