India began the home season beating New Zealand with 3-0 margin with wins in the Kanpur, Kolkata, and Indore Tests. After this, England came visiting, and the first Test in Rajkot ended in a draw. Team India then went on to win the next four games to secure 4-0 win at home. Bangladesh then toured India for their first Test series and lost the only game by a massive 208 runs. The final huge challenge was the series against Australia, which India won with a 2-1 margin.

India totally dominated the opposition during their tour of Sri Lanka in 2017 for a three-match Test series. The first match of the series was won by the Indian team by a massive margin of 304 runs. The second match of the series was played in Galle, where the hosts suffered a defeat by an innings and 53 runs, while in the third game India won by 171 runs. Virat Kohli scored 161 runs from three games, while Shikhar Dhawan scored 358 runs from three games.

Team India became the first Asian side to win a series in Australia during the 2018/19 tour. Virat Kohli and his side began the series with a win in the Adelaide Test by 31 runs. This was followed by the loss by 146 runs during the second Test match in Perth. India then bounced back with a 137-run win over Australia in Melbourne to take 2-1 lead in the series. The final game of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground ended in a draw to enable India win the series.
