The first-ever T20 World Cup final remains the most memorable final in the tournament’s history. MS Dhoni-led India lifted the inaugural World T20 Trophy in South Africa after defeating arch-rivals Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Notably, this was not only memorable as it was the first ever T20 World Cup, but it was also between two arch-rivals that made the game so special.

Speaking about the game, Pakistan needed a 13-off final over, and Joginder Sharma was handed the responsibility of bowling the last over. He took the initiative and guided the team to become the inaugural world champions.

2. West Indies vs. England, 2016

Notably, the English side got off to an awful start as the Three Lions were only able to score 155 runs against the West Indies in the final game, which was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Meanwhile, the English side had a great start as they removed Gayle and Simmons in the second over, and the West Indies were reduced to 11/3. However, Carlos Brathwaite arrived at number eight and hammered straight four-sixes against Ben Stokes to help his side win their second title with two balls to spare.

This match was played at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Notably, Sri Lanka were favourites to win the game. Speaking of the final game, the West Indies were in deep trouble as they scored just 14 runs in six overs with a loss of two wickets. However, they had just posted 137 runs in the given 20 overs. However, West Indies were too good during the chase as they bundled out the home team for just 101 runs in 18.4 overs to win their first-ever title.
