Top 3 talking points from India vs West Indies 3rd T20I

Indian cricket team finally got a win in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against West Indies on Tuesday, August 8 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. They convincingly defeated the Caribbean side in the 3rd T20I match by 7 wickets with a brilliant all-round performance with both bat and ball.

Bowling first, India restricted Windieson the score of just 159 runs and chased the target with 13 balls to spare. However, West Indies are still ahead 2-1 in the series and the Men in Blue have to win both remaining matches to win the series. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the top 3 talking points from the 3rd T20I,

1. Shubman Gill struggling

Shubman Gill

India’s young sensation Shubman Gill has continued to struggle in the ongoing tour. Gill scored only 6 runs in the 3rd T20I, while in the 1st and the 2nd match, he scored only 3 and 7 runs, respectively. With the ODI World Cup 2023 getting closer, Gill’s form has become a major concern for the team. It’d be interesting to see if he gets more chances in the remaining 2 matches or not.

2. Suryakumar Yadav back in form

The no. 1 T20I batter and India’s own Mr. 360° Suryakumar Yadav finally looked in great touch for the first time in the entire tour so far. He smashed 83 runs off just 59 balls, which included 10 fours and 4 sixes. Suryakumar’s performance in the first 2 matches was horrible but his 3rd match batting display helped the team to clinch a convincing victory.

3. Hardik Pandya not allowing Tilak Varma to complete his half-century

India may have won the match convincingly but the Indian skipper Hardik Pandya still got trolled after the 3rd T20I. However, this time the matter was different. Pandya came to bat at No. 5 position and the team were already in a comfortable position. Young left-hander Tilak Varma, who was playing his only 3rd T20I match of his career, was getting close to his 2nd T20I half-century. He needed only 1 run to achieve the milestone but Pandya, without any hesitation finished the match with a six and denied Varma’s well-deserved half-century.
