Top 3 slowest balls in the history of cricket

Cricket has always been known as the batter’s game since its inception and in its entire history. But apart from that bowling has also been one of the understated beauties of the game to make it more competitive and comprehensive. There had been great bowlers in history who happened to grace the great game of cricket with their excellence and dynamic efforts.

In earlier times, bowling with sheer pace and speed had been considered as one of the influential skills that pace bowlers used to possess. But things have changed a lot with the time in cricket and bowling slower ones has emerged as a new art in the bowling; be it from the pacers or the spinners with wrist-arm bowling ability.

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the top 3 slowest deliveries ever bowled in the history of cricket so far. The list includes the names that might shock you as a cricket fan.

The 40-year-old Scotland off-spinner has represented his national team in major international tournaments like the World Cup. He is still the most capped player in the history of Scotland in international cricket.

Apart from being the second-highest wicket-taker for his side, Majid Haq also registered a unique international record to his name which is still owned by him. He happened to deliver the slowest delivery ever in international cricket when he bowled a ball of only 41.6 mph which calculates up to only 65 km/h.

2. Jasprit BumrahIndia

The second name in the list is none other than the star Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. He had been an essential part of the Indian side at the highest level till the time he went out of action due to a back injury. He is ranked at the second spot in the list of slowest balls in the history of the game.

Bumrah delivered a ball of only 113 kph on the third day of the Melbourne Test between India and Australia. It was an amazing yorker that left the Aussie batter with no options and made him go back to the pavilion after a dismissal. The Ahmedabad-born pacer went on to scalp 6 wickets by conceding only 33 runs at the end of the day’s play.

3. Shoaib Akhtar – Pakistan

Probably, one of the most shocking names that can leave anyone biting nails is none other than the former legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar. The Rawalpindi express still owns the record of the fastest delivery in the history of cricket that he bowled to England opener Nick Knight during the ODI World Cup 2003.

But who would believe that the same bowler is ranked three in the list of slowest deliveries in the history of cricket. He bowled this slow delivery during a Test match for Pakistan against England almost 18 years back in the year 2005. The English batter failed to analyze the impact of Shoaib’s slower one and got dismissed in a LBW.
