Top 3 Run-scorers for Delhi in First Class cricket

First Class’ is a term in cricket that generally indicates three-day, four-day, and five-day games. So, Test matches are also a part of first-class cricket. Meanwhile, Delhi is a state which has produced top-quality cricketers over the years. 

Delhi have won seven Ranji Trophies, two Irani Cups, one Vijay Hazare Trophy, and one Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Till now, many batters have come and scored a ton of runs for the state in first-class cricket. 

Here are three top run-scorers in First Class cricket for Delhi

1. Rajat Bhatia (4666 runs)

This batter is in the third spot with 4666 runs in 115 innings of 81 matches. He scored those runs at an average of 48.10 and a strike rate of 47.93. Bhatia also smashed 20 fifties and 13 centuries. However, he got out on duck eight times. His best score was 185 against Tamil Nadu in the 2005-06 season of the Ranji Trophy as he smashed 21 fours and three sixes in that clash. Bhatia also stitched an 82-run partnership with Amit Bhandari for the ninth wicket. His career span was from 2003 to 2015.     

2. Gautam  Gambhir(4998 runs)

This former Team India batter is in the second spot with 4998 runs in 101 innings of 62 matches. Those runs came at an average of 53.17 and a strike rate of 56.65. Gambhir also smashed 20 fifties and 16 centuries. However, he scored ducks only seven times. His best score was 233* and his first-class career span was from 2000 to 2018. 

3. Mithun Manhas (5991 runs)

This batter tops the chart as the highest run-scorer in first-class cricket for Delhi. Mithun Manhas scored 5991 runs in 142 innings of 95 matches. He managed those runs at an average of 48.31 and a strike rate of 53.57. He also smashed 34 fifties and 16 centuries. However, Manhas also got dismissed for a duck 14 times. His best score was 170 against Maharashtra at the Roshanara Cricket Club in the Ranji Trophy. Manhas also put up a 256-run stand with Rajat Bhatia. His career span was from 1999 to 2015.
