Top 3 quickest half-centuries by Australia players in ODI matches

Australia has had some of the best cricketers of all-time. In ODIs, Australia has been a champion side. In 1987, Australia won their maiden ODI World Cup. The world witnessed the domination of the Australian side when they won three ODI World Cup tournaments in a row from 1999 to 2007. Australia again won the ODI World Cup in 2015 under the captaincy of Michael Clarke.

In 2006 and 2009, Australia won the Champions trophy under the captaincy of Ricky Ponting. In many of these tournaments, many great players played for the Australian team. From 2015, two players have been highly aggressive for Australia and scored the joint fastest fifty for the team. The other batter hit it in 2008. Here are the Top 3 batters with the fastest fifty for Australia in the One Day Internationals –

1. Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell is known for his aggression. The unorthodox batter can tear apart the bowling lineups on his day. One such day was 2nd November in 2013, when the decider of the 7-match series happened between India and Australia in Bengaluru. Batting first, India scored a massive total of 383 runs. Chasing the target of 384, Australia was reduced to 74/4 in no time. From there, Maxwell scored 60(22) and gave a mini heart attack to the Indian fans. Maxwell scored the fifty in just 18 balls. The knock of the middle order batter included 3 fours and 7 sixes.

2. Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch was the Australian captain under whom the kangaroos won their maiden World T20 title in the 2021 edition. 5 years before that, Finch stunned the cricket world with his aggressive batting against Sri Lanka. In the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka in Dambulla, Australia was asked to chase a target of 213 runs. Finch breezed away to a brisk start and smashed the Lankan bowlers all over the park. In his stay in the middle, Finch scored 55 runs in 19 balls, which included 8 fours and 3 sixes. Finch scored his fifty in just 18 balls and became the joint quickest Australian to the milestone.

3. David Hussey

The former Australian cricketer was known for his destructive nature with the bat. Unfortunately, David Hussey did not get many opportunities in the team due to heavy competition in the team. In the ODI against the West Indies, none of it mattered. Batting first in the fifth ODI in Basseterre in 2008, Australia scored 341/8 in their 50 overs. Hussey scored 52(21) and contributed to the total immensely. The fifty of the lower middle order batter came in just 19 balls, which is the second quickest by an Australian to date. Australia won the match comfortably by 169 runs.
