2. Virender Sehwag – 5

Hashim Amla can be described as one of the most technically solid batters to have played for South Africa. He was also an all-format player. From 2004 to 2018, he played 21 Tests against India, scoring 1528 runs at an average of 43.65. Amla had five centuries and seven fifties against India.

Virender Sehwag, on the other hand, has his highest score of 319 against South Africa. The opening batter scored 1306 runs in 15 Tests at an average of 50.23 and a strike rate of 80.56. Apart from five tons, the Nawab of Najafgarh has two fifties to his name against the Proteas.

1. Sachin Tendulkar – 7

Jacques Kallis had a stellar record against India, amassing 1734 runs in just 18 Tests at an average of 69.36. He mustered seven centuries and five fifties against the Asian side and a highest score of 201*. Apart from his contributions with the willow, Kallis also had 22 Test wickets to his name against India.

Sachin Tendulkar, one of the best batters of all time, also smashed seven centuries and five fifties against South Africa, but he played 25 Tests. The Master Blaster had an average of 42.46, scoring 1741 runs. His  highest score versus the Proteas in Tests was 169.
