Top 3 performances of Shikhar Dhawan in IPL

Top 3 performances of Shikhar Dhawan in IPL

Shikhar Dhawan, one of India’s most elegant left-handed batters, has long been recognised for his consistency and flair, especially in ICC tournaments. Dhawan has also carved out a remarkable legacy in the IPL, representing five different franchises across his career.

In 222 matches, he amassed 6769 runs at an impressive average of 35.25. His finest season came in IPL 2020, where he piled up 618 runs from 17 matches, showcasing his class in challenging conditions. Among his many memorable knocks, let us take a look at top three performances of him in IPL.

106* vs Kings XI Punjab, Dubai 2020

In the 38th match of IPL 2020, Dhawan, playing for Delhi Capitals, delivered his highest-ever IPL score. Batting first, DC posted 164/5, with Dhawan single-handedly anchoring the innings. His unbeaten 106 off 61 balls, studded with 12 boundaries and three sixes, was a masterclass in controlled aggression. Although Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) successfully chased down the total in 19 overs, Dhawan’s inning remained the highlight of the match and earned him the Player of the Match award.

101* vs Chennai Super Kings, Sharjah 2020

In the same season, Dhawan produced yet another unforgettable performance, this time against Chennai Super Kings. Chasing a competitive total of 179/4 set by CSK, Dhawan anchored the innings magnificently with a 101 off 58 balls, featuring 14 fours and one six. The knock came at a time when wickets were falling regularly at the other end. Dhawan’s calm temperament and his ability to find gaps consistently guided Delhi Capitals to victory with one ball to spare, making it one of his most mature T20 innings.

95* vs Kings XI Punjab, Dharamsala 2011

Returning to his early IPL days with the Deccan Chargers, Dhawan scored a sublime unbeaten 95 off 57 balls against Kings XI Punjab. Opening alongside Dwaraka Ravi Teja, he helped the team reach an imposing 198/2. His knock, marked by 14 fours and one six, showcased his emerging dominance. Punjab collapsed for 116 in response, but it was Dhawan’s innings that set up the comprehensive win.
