The right-handed batter combined his crafty off-spin to become one of the most useful players of his team. Hooper produced one of the finest performances by a visiting all-rounder in the second Test of the 1994 series against India. He picked five wickets to limit India to 546 in the first innings. He later scored a vital 81 in the Windies’ innings. After picking up two more in the subsequent innings, Cooper scored 67 out of West Indies’ 132. He earned the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance.
2) 233 off 402 vs India (Georgetown, 2002)
Hooper led from the front to get to his maiden Test double ton in the first Test of the five-match series against India in 2002. Hooper wore out the opposition and did not let any bowler settle. His knock comprised 29 fours and three sixes. The match ended in a draw with only two innings out of the possible four played.
3) 113* off 97 vs India (Gwalior, 1988)
Coming in at No. 6, Hooper’s 97-ball 113-run was the all-rounder’s first ODI ton. The Indian attack had no answer to his wide range of strokes as he guided West Indies to 278/6 in 50 overs. The match eventually went in the favour of West Indies by 73 runs. Thieparticular innings was instrumental in announcing Hooper as a middle-order specialist to the world.
