Top 3 performances of Adam Gilchrist in IPL

Top 3 performances of Adam Gilchrist in IPL

Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist played six seasons of the Indian Premier League after he retired as one of the greats of international cricket in 2008. He represented DCH and KXIP (now PBKS). Gilchrist registered 2069 runs in 80 matches at a strike rate of 138.39.

1) 109* (47) vs MI, 2008

Gilchrist’s blistering unbeaten ton during DCH’s clash against MI in Navi Mumbai remains one of the most power-packed tons during run-chases in the IPL to date. DCH’s skipper turned the game on its head with a stunning display of batting to finish with nine fours and 10 sixes to his name. DCH raced to their first win of the tournament by 10 wickets and 48 balls to spare.

2) 106 (55) vs RCB, 2011

In his first season for KXIP, Gilchrist got to his second IPL century in captain’s knock. Opting to bat first, the wicketkeeper-batter led from the front, belting nine sixes and eight fours. Gilchrist’s whirlwind display concluded on the penultimate over of the innings as KXIP racked up a mammoth 232/2 and eventually won the match by 111 runs.

3) 85 (35) vs DD (now DC), 2009

DCH were into the final of the second installment of the IPL after an explosive match-winning knock by Gilchrist in Centurion. Gilchrist batting onslaught completely deflated the opposition. By the time he departed, DCH had already got past 100 in the 10th over. However, the damage had already been done as his side cruised past the finish line. Gilchrist’s DCH emerged as champions and he was the second leading run-getter of the edition.
