Abdul Razzaq, the ace Pakistan all-rounder, was born on this day, December 2, in 1979. He was from Shahdara Bagh, a suburb on the outskirts of Lahore, Punjab. 

He soon became a permanent fixture in the Pakistani lineup, even batting at no. 3 regularly in ODI cricket. He was part of the Pakistani team that played in the final of the ICC World Cup 1999. And he played for Pakistan in the 2007 and 2011 World Cups as well.

Zimbabwe and Pakistan clashed in Multan in the first match of the Paktel Cup. Pakistan batted first and, despite being reduced to 36/4, managed 292/7 in 50 overs. Much of the credit for this score went to Razzaq, who slammed 107* in 114 balls with five fours and five sixes. Inzamam Ul Haq made 73 while Shahid Afridi made 58 in 26 balls.

Vusi Sibanda made 57 as Pakistan bowlers, but Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi took three wickets each to bundle out Zimbabwe for 148, winning Pakistan the game by 144 runs. Razzaq was named the Player of the Match. 

2. 6/35 vs Bangladesh, Dhaka, 2002

Pakistan and Bangladesh clashed in the third and final ODI in 2002. Bangladesh batted first and scoring 220 runs as Tushar Imran made 43 while Mehrab Hossain got 41. Razzaq shone with the ball, taking 6/35 in 9.5 overs.

Pakistan chased down the target in 35.2 overs, with eight wickets in hand. Shahid Afridi made 83 in 44 balls with seven sixes and six fours while Younis Khan got 66*. Razzaq made useful contribution of 25*. He was named the Player of the Series for 98 runs and eight wickets in the series.

1. 112 vs South Africa, Gqeberha, 2002

South Africa and Pakistan clashed in the second ODI of the five-match series in Gqeberha in December 2002. Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Saleem Elahi made 135 in 129 balls with 19 fours, while Razzaq hammered 112 in 120 balls with 13 fours and two sixes as Pakistan posted 335/6 in 50 overs.  

South Africa were bundled out for 153 as Waqar Younis, Mohammad Sami, and Shahid Afridi took three wickets each to take Pakistan to a massive 182-run win.
