However, Sai is still young and can be branded as a future star. If required, he can be an aggressive option at the top.

Apart from Sai and Jos, GT has reliable options like Shubman Gill. He will continue to lead the Titans despite not having a good record as a captain in the IPL so far. Shubman delivered an all-time great season as a batter in 2023 when he scored 890 runs, the second most for a single batter in an IPL season.
In 2024, captaincy influenced his batting. At times, he could not get going due to the poor form of Wriddhiman Saha at the other end. But having someone like Sai as an opening partner could help Gill to find the aggressive mojo. To make it to the Indian side, one must be highly aggressive. Gill would be looking forward to it.
Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler
In all honesty, Sai Sudarshan is likely to bat at number 3. His best innings have come at number 3. GT is likely to start with Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill as their opening duo. They are capable of winning matches on their own. At the top, they have been successful in the league. Buttler has made a name for himself.
Shubman needs someone like Jos at the other end who can take a bit of pressure away from him. Jos is someone who can absorb pressure well. Without captaincy, Buttler can concentrate on his batting. With Jos at the other end, Shubman can concentrate to play freely. It would be a win-win situation for GT.
