Top 3 most economical bowlers in IND vs WI ODI series 2026

Top 3 most economical bowlers in IND vs WI ODI series 2026

The three-match ODI series between India and West Indies produced plenty of batting fireworks, with both teams crossing the 290-run mark in every game. India eventually won the series 2-1, but the bowlers had to operate on challenging batting-friendly surfaces throughout the contest.

West Indies scored 295/7 in the opening ODI before India chased down the target comfortably. The second game in Guwahati witnessed an even bigger run-fest, with the visitors posting 405/7 before India completed a record chase of 406. In the series finale at New Chandigarh, India scored 351/7, only for West Indies to chase it down with five wickets in hand.

Amid the high-scoring nature of the series, a few Indian bowlers managed to keep their economy rates under control. Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the most economical bowler among India’s regular options, while Naman Dhir also impressed with his ability to restrict the scoring rate.

Here are top 3 most economical bowlers for India in the IND vs WI ODI series 2026.

1. Kuldeep Yadav – Economy rate 5.57

Kuldeep Yadav finished the series as India’s most economical bowler, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 5.57 across the three matches.

The left-arm wrist-spinner was arguably India’s most consistent bowling threat throughout the series. He finished as the leading wicket-taker as well, picking up seven wickets, including a four-wicket haul in the opening ODI.

Kuldeep’s ability to vary his pace and use his googly effectively allowed him to create pressure even when the pitches offered little assistance to the bowlers. His best figures came in the first ODI, where he returned 4/40.

He also bowled his full quota in the second ODI despite West Indies posting 405 runs. In the third ODI, Kuldeep again completed 10 overs and conceded 62 runs while picking up one wicket. His economy of 6.20 in the final match slightly affected his overall numbers, but his performances across the first two games ensured that he remained India’s most economical bowler in the series.

2. Naman Dhir – Economy rate 6.30

Naman Dhir finished second among India’s most economical bowlers with an economy rate of 6.30.

The all-rounder was introduced into the ODI setup during the series and made an impact with his disciplined medium-pace bowling. His ability to contribute a few overs without leaking runs gave captain Shubman Gill an additional option in the bowling attack.

Dhir’s most notable performance came in the third ODI at New Chandigarh. With West Indies chasing 352, he bowled 5.2 overs for just 33 runs and picked up one wicket, finishing with an economy rate of 6.18 for the match.

Considering the extraordinary batting conditions during the series, maintaining an overall economy rate of 6.30 was a respectable achievement. His ability to hold one end could become valuable for India as the team continues to assess its options ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.

3. Mohammed Siraj – Economy rate 6.47

Mohammed Siraj completes India’s top three most economical bowlers with an economy rate of approximately 6.47 across the series.

Siraj was brought into the playing XI for the third ODI after Prasidh Krishna was ruled out with a hamstring injury. He immediately made an impact by dismissing John Campbell during West Indies’ chase.

The experienced pacer finished the match with figures of 1/52 from eight overs, conceding 6.50 runs per over. Although West Indies eventually chased down India’s 352-run target, Siraj was one of the Indian bowlers who managed to keep his economy rate relatively close to the six-run mark.

His experience and ability to strike with the new ball remain important assets for India, particularly with the team looking to strengthen its bowling combination ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
