Shimron Hetmyer has been a regular part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2019 and he has played for multiple franchises in this period. Hetmyer delivered his best IPL performance in his very first season when he was playing for RCB. He played this knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a group-stage match in Bengaluru. RCB was chasing 176 runs in the second innings against a tricky bowling unit that had the likes of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan. Bangalore had a horrible start to their run chase as they lost Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, and Parthiv Patel in the powerplay. Hetmyer came to the rescue and played a major part in completing the run chase along with Gurkeerat Mann.

Hetmyer smashed this half-century in the first innings for RR against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in 2022. The left-hander was a major force in guiding his team to total beyond the 160-run mark. Rajasthan’s batting stint was under duress when they lost 4 wickets for just 67 runs. Shimron Hetmyer’s partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin was a saving grace for Rajasthan and eventually, this partnership proved to be the difference as Lucknow lost the match by a narrow margin of 3 runs.

Rajasthan’s chase was heading towards collapse but Hetmyer assisted his captain Sanju Samson in resurrecting the run chase. In the end, the Royals chased the target with 4 balls to spare and Hetmyer was adjudged the player of the match for a decisive knock.
