And certainly, West Indies is a team who are the most successful team when it comes to the shortest format of the game. The way of playing cricket for the  West Indies is certainly loved by fans all around the world. 

The West Indies team is arguably one of the best T20 teams who have ever participated in the major tournaments. The Darren Sammy-led West Indies side won the World Cup in the T20 format in the year 2014 and 2016 and made history as the team who have won the most number of titles internationally. Here are the Top 3 highest individual scores by West Indies players on T20I debut.

1. 61 –Dwayne Smith vs England at The Oval in 2007

Dwayne Smith was certainly one of the stalwarts of the West Indies T20 side, who was handy with the bat as well as bowl. Smith was not that successful in his Test career, but he was certainly one of the prominent names in the T20 teams all over the world.

It was in his debut match, where Smith smashed 61 runs against England, which is by far the highest individual debut score by any player for West Indies.

2. 51 –Marlon Samuels vs England at The Oval in 2007

Marlon Samuels was a right-hander who possessed immense ability but has so far struggled to realize his potential, thanks to the various controversies he has been embroiled in. He was very sensible with the bat as he could even play a role of an anchor as well as take charge of the opposition. In his debut match against England, Samuel went on to score 51 runs and in fact had an essential partnership with Dwayne Smith. 

3. 39 –Roston Chase vs Bangladesh at Sharjah in 2021

Roston Chase is not known for his six-hitting batting as well as fast pace batting.  Following impressive performances with both bat and ball in the 2015–16 Professional Cricket League, Chase earned a spot in the West Indies Test team. He bowled more than he ever had before, took 23 wickets at an average of 17.26, and scored 710 runs in ten matches at an average of 59.16.  But when given a chance in the T20 format, he played a crucial knock of 39 runs in his debut match against Bangladesh at Sharjah in 2021.
