Top 3 Bowlers to Watch Out for in New Zealand vs India ODI Series

Top 3 Bowlers to Watch Out for in New Zealand vs India ODI Series

India and New Zealand will begin their five-match ODI series on November 4 at Eden Park, Auckland. The series is an important opportunity for both teams to test their combinations and build towards the 2027 ODI World Cup. With New Zealand having recently enjoyed success against India in the 50-over format, the hosts will be eager to make the most of home conditions.

The series could be shaped by the performances of the two bowling attacks. India will rely on their experienced pace and spin options, while New Zealand will look to exploit familiar conditions and challenge the visitors with movement and variations.

Here are 3  bowlers to watch out for in NZ vs IND ODI series:

1. Mohammed Siraj – India

Mohammed Siraj will be one of India’s key bowlers in the upcoming series. The right-arm pacer has established himself as a dependable option in the ODI format, particularly with the new ball, where his ability to generate movement and maintain a disciplined line makes him difficult to score against.

Siraj is expected to lead India’s pace attack alongside Arshdeep Singh and the other seamers available for selection. With Prasidh Krishna ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury, Siraj’s role becomes even more important. India have also added Auqib Nabi to the squad for the first three ODIs, providing another pace option.

Siraj’s ability to strike early could be crucial against New Zealand’s top order. The hosts have several batters capable of scoring quickly, and India will need wickets in the powerplay to prevent them from building a strong platform.

His experience in international cricket and ability to bowl in different phases make him one of the most important players in India’s bowling lineup.

2. Matt Henry – New Zealand

Matt Henry will be a major threat for New Zealand, especially in the opening matches of the series. The experienced right-arm pacer is known for his ability to swing the new ball and exploit seam-friendly conditions.

Henry is included in New Zealand’s squad for the first three ODIs, alongside Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy. His presence gives the hosts an experienced option who can challenge India’s top order with movement and accuracy.

The Auckland surface could offer Henry an opportunity to make an early impact. If he finds movement, he will be particularly dangerous against India’s top-order batters, who will need to negotiate the opening spell carefully.

Henry’s ability to bowl disciplined lines also makes him effective during the middle overs. He can build pressure and force batters to take risks, creating opportunities for wickets at crucial moments.

With New Zealand looking to use home conditions to their advantage, Henry could play a decisive role in setting the tone for the series.

3. Kuldeep Yadav – India

Kuldeep Yadav completes the list of bowlers to watch out for. The left-arm wrist-spinner has become one of India’s most effective limited-overs bowlers, using flight, turn and variation to trouble batters in the middle overs.

Kuldeep is part of India’s squad for the first three ODIs and could be particularly important against New Zealand’s middle order. His ability to attack rather than simply contain makes him a valuable wicket-taking option.

New Zealand’s batters are generally comfortable playing spin, but Kuldeep’s variations can create uncertainty, especially when he bowls to set batters looking to accelerate. His ability to take wickets in clusters could prevent the hosts from building a substantial total.

Kuldeep will also be important if the pitch offers assistance to spin as the match progresses. India may rely on him to control the middle overs while allowing their fast bowlers to return for the death.

His role will be especially significant in a series where both teams are likely to focus on building strong totals and maintaining pressure through the middle phase.
