There have been a lot of great South African all rounders that have made a huge impact in cricket. The likes of Jacques Kallis and Lance Klusener come to our mind every time. After all there was a time where the team was one of the most dominant teams in both white ball and red ball cricket. Throughout the years we have seen some great all rounders in World cricket and we have come to know the players who are inspirations to this role.
One of the biggest inspirational figures in South African cricket is Shaun Pollock. Who has served his nation well as a player and a captain. Pollock could not only take wickets with the new ball, but can also score some handy runs down the order. Though we know how he has performed as a bowler, it is time to look into his great knocks with the bat in red ball cricket that are very iconic in his career. These knocks have made him one of the most renowned figures in South African cricket we have ever seen.
Here are the top 3 great performances by Pollock with the bat in Test cricket:

This was an important knock by Pollock who back then was the skipper of the side as well. Sri Lanka were restricted to 323 in the first innings, but the Proteas were also struggling at 264-6 and needed to bat with Mark Boucher in the end. This is where Pollock came and played a great knock of 99 from 170 deliveries that helped South Africa get to a total of 448. Pollock remained unbeaten in the innings and played a real captain’s knock this entire game.
