Antigua and Barbuda Falcons will lock horns with Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 15 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The contest is scheduled for August 23 and will see two sides with contrasting starts to the tournament battle for crucial points.
The Falcons have plenty of firepower in their batting unit, with Evin Lewis, Amir Jangoo, Hasan Nawaz and Moeen Ali among their key options. Guyana, meanwhile, boast an impressive top order featuring Glenn Phillips, Shai Hope, Mavendra Dindyal and Shimron Hetmyer.
Guyana have made an especially strong start to CPL 2026. They defeated Jamaica Kingsmen in their opening game before beating Saint Lucia Kings by seven wickets in their second match. Mavendra Dindyal scored a composed half-century in the latter contest, while Shimron Hetmyer provided a spectacular finish with an unbeaten 26 off just 11 balls.
Here are the top three batters to watch out for in Match 15 of CPL 2026:
1. Shai Hope
Shai Hope is arguably the most dependable batting option in the Guyana Amazon Warriors line-up and will be one of the biggest threats to the Falcons.
The West Indies wicketkeeper-batter enjoyed an outstanding CPL 2025 campaign and has carried that form into the new season. He announced his arrival in CPL 2026 with an unbeaten 56 off 41 balls against Jamaica Kingsmen, striking two fours and four sixes. His innings helped Guyana chase down their target comfortably and demonstrated his ability to combine control with attacking intent.
Hope was dismissed for 17 in Guyana’s second match against Saint Lucia, but the Warriors still completed a seven-wicket victory. With Glenn Phillips and Mavendra Dindyal providing starts around him, Hope remains an important stabilising presence in the top order.
His biggest strength is his ability to assess conditions before accelerating. While he possesses enough power to clear the boundaries, Hope is equally comfortable rotating the strike and building partnerships.
That quality could be particularly useful against Antigua’s attack, which contains experienced bowlers such as Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales.
If Hope manages to survive the opening spell and gets set at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, he could once again anchor a substantial Guyana total.
2. Evin Lewis
Evin Lewis will be the biggest batting threat for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. The explosive left-hander is one of the most destructive powerplay batters in T20 cricket and has the ability to turn an ordinary start into a match-defining innings within a few overs.
Lewis’ game is built around fearless strokeplay. He particularly enjoys taking on pace and can punish even minor errors in length. His ability to clear the ropes with minimal foot movement also makes him a difficult batter to contain during the field restrictions.
The Falcons will need Lewis to provide them with a strong start against a Guyana attack that possesses considerable variety. The Warriors can call upon Shamar Joseph for raw pace, Mohammad Nabi and Khary Pierre for spin, while captain Imran Tahir provides another wicket-taking option.
Lewis will therefore have to choose his match-ups carefully.
His previous performances in the tournament have shown that he can provide the Falcons with a platform at the top. If he gets through the first few overs, Antigua could be in a position to post a substantial score.
The left-hander’s battle with Guyana’s fast bowlers could consequently determine the early momentum of the contest. A quick dismissal would put pressure on the rest of the Falcons’ batting order, whereas another aggressive powerplay from Lewis could force Imran Tahir to rethink his bowling plans.
3. Shimron Hetmyer
Shimron Hetmyer completes the list and could potentially be the most dangerous batter in the latter stages of the innings. The Guyana-born left-hander is one of the most destructive middle-order batters in Caribbean cricket. His familiarity with the conditions and ability to accelerate instantly make him an ideal No. 4 or finisher for the Amazon Warriors.
Hetmyer demonstrated exactly what he is capable of during Guyana’s recent victory over Saint Lucia. He smashed an unbeaten 26 off just 11 deliveries, hitting four fours and a six at a phenomenal strike rate. Together with Quentin Sampson, he produced 36 runs from the final nine balls to take Guyana across the line with plenty of time remaining.
That innings once again highlighted Hetmyer’s value.
He does not necessarily need a long stay at the crease to influence a T20 match. A handful of clean strikes can completely alter the required run rate and put the opposition under immense pressure.
Antigua could look towards Shadab Khan and Moeen Ali to challenge him with spin during the middle overs. However, Hetmyer’s ability to attack spinners makes that a potentially risky strategy.
The Falcons will also have to prevent him from entering the final five overs with plenty of wickets in hand. If Hetmyer is still batting when the death overs arrive, Guyana could have the firepower to produce a huge finish.
