Moreover, he cleared any doubts about his ability to play against short balls. In his innings filled with pull and hook shots, he hit nine boundaries and two sixes.

Shubman Gill, the Indian vice captain, was played with the maturity required of a leader. After losing two early wickets, he played a steady knock with Iyer firing at the other end. He respected bowlers who bowled in good areas and scored on deliveries in his playing range. He was awarded Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
