T20 World Cup 2026: 3 South Africa players to watch for in ZIM vs SA

South Africa will take on Zimbabwe in Match No. 51 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Group A, Super Eight) on Sunday, March 1 at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in New Delhi. The Proteas have already advanced to the Semi-Finals after defeating India and the West Indies, respectively. Having already booked their slot for the next round of the competition, the Aiden Markram-led team will hope to fine-tune their combinations in this dead-rubber clash.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe surprised many by progressing to the Super Eight stage. However, the unbeaten run they built in the group phase did not carry forward, as they suffered consecutive defeats against India and the West Indies, resulting in their elimination. Despite the setback, Zimbabwe will be looking to finish its campaign on a positive note and sign off with a strong performance.

Here are three South African players to watch out for in Match No.51 of the T20 World Cup 2026:

Corbin Bosch

A late bloomer in international cricket, Corbin Bosch has played an important role for South Africa in this competition. While his batting has not been required much, Bosch has been exceptional with the ball, especially at the death. He has bowled 54 deliveries between overs 16 and 20, conceding just 56 runs and picking up three wickets.

Notably, Bosch has taken at least one wicket in each of his four matches so far, claiming seven scalps overall. His best performances include 3/12 against the UAE and a match-winning 2/12 versus defending champions, India. The star all-rounder will once again look to play with the same confidence and contribute to his team in this dead-rubber Super Eight clash.

Lungi Ngidi

Lungi Ngidi has been South Africa’s wrecker-in-chief with the ball throughout the tournament. With 11 wickets to his name, he is among the leading wicket-takers and has one of the best economy rates among frontline seamers. His returns of 4/31 against Canada, 3/26 versus Afghanistan, and 3/30 against West Indies have taken the Proteas to the top on numerous occasions.

Against New Zealand, Ngidi’s slower-ball variations once again grabbed headlines. Mixing his cutters, he varied his lengths. forcing batters to second-guess every option. His four-over spell will be crucial for the team,

Aiden Markram

His unbeaten 86 against New Zealand and an 82 against West Indies gave the team crucial starts, eventually resulting in them winning the clash. Notably, he has hammered three half-centuries already and consistently provided good starts, including a 95-run opening stand in just eight overs against the West Indies. Furthermore, his decision-making and smart bowling changes have been pivotal.
