T20 World Cup 2026: 3 Pakistan Batters to Watch Out For

Pakistan have announced a formidable squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. While Pakistan have not enjoyed much success in recent ICC events, a slightly revamped squad will be aiming to bring home another global trophy.

When it comes to batting, Pakistan possess plenty of experience, though consistency has often been a concern. With that in mind, here is a look at three Pakistan batters to watch out for in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Sahibzada Farhan

Sahibzada Farhan

Sahibzada Farhan earned regular international opportunities relatively late in his career. He built his reputation through strong performances in domestic T20 cricket, particularly while representing Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, which helped him cement his place as Pakistan’s first-choice T20I opener.

While Farhan may not be the most elegant batter, he compensates with effectiveness and adaptability. In 37 T20Is, he has scored 917 runs at a strike rate of 129.15, including eight half-centuries.

Saim Ayub

Saim Ayub

Saim Ayub burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old through the PSL but initially did not display the destructive power-hitting ability he has since developed. With experience gained across leagues around the world, he has recently cemented his place in the national setup.

Ayub missed out on selection for the T20 World Cup 2024 following a series of low scores, but he is now expected to be Pakistan’s frontline opener. In 58 T20Is, he has scored 1109 runs at a strike rate of 132.97, including five half-centuries, and has also taken 21 wickets.

Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman

Left-handed batter Fakhar Zaman is known for his unusually high back lift and reliance on raw power. A bona fide legend in the Pakistan Super League, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest batters in the league’s history.

Although Fakhar has been a bigger match-winner for Pakistan in ODIs, his experience in franchise cricket makes him a dangerous option in the shorter format as well. In 115 T20Is, he has scored 2365 runs at a strike rate of 131.31, including 13 half-centuries.
