T20 World Cup 2026: 3 Oman bowlers to watch out for

Oman head into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 aiming to make a stronger impression on the global stage. Having featured in previous editions, the associate nation will be eager to improve on past performances and pose a more sustained challenge to higher-ranked opponents. With the tournament set to be played in India and Sri Lanka, Oman’s bowling attack could play a decisive role if they are to compete effectively.

Here are three Oman bowlers to watch out for at the T20 World Cup 2026.

Sufyan Mehmood

Right-arm medium pacer Sufyan Mehmood has been part of Oman’s cricketing journey since their early days, debuting at a time when facilities and exposure were limited. He made his T20I debut against Hong Kong in 2015 but featured sporadically in the early years of his career.

Mehmood’s all-round skills add depth and flexibility to the side, and his ability to contribute with the ball will be crucial for Oman. In 22 T20Is, he has picked up 21 wickets at an economy rate of 7.70.

Shakeel Ahmed

Left-arm spinner Shakeel Ahmed has emerged as one of Oman’s most reliable bowlers since making his T20I debut in 2023. He is known for his accuracy and ability to restrict scoring and has become a regular fixture in the Oman line-up across formats.

While his economy rate has been impressive in T20Is, he has also shown a knack for picking up timely wickets. His best performance in the format came against the Netherlands, where he registered figures of 3 for 24. In 44 T20Is, Ahmed has taken 34 wickets at an economy rate of 6.53, making him a key weapon in the middle overs.

Set to feature in his maiden ICC event, Ramanandi will be keen to make an impact on the big stage. In 11 T20Is, he has taken 15 wickets at an impressive average of 15.26, showcasing his wicket-taking ability and potential to trouble batters.
