Ranking top 3 innings of Faf du Plessis in IPL

Faf du Plessis has been an integral component of the Chennai Super Kings ever since he made his debut in the Indian Premier League in 2012. He excels in the limited-overs format, and what makes him such a productive hitter is his ability to adjust to various game scenarios efficiently. He has also played a significant amount of cricket for South Africa.

Before the 2022 edition of the lucrative franchise cricket league, CSK released him, and Royal Challengers Bangalore robbed him to serve as the team’s skipper. His background as a national team captain and a player in the Indian Premier League greatly benefits the team. Here are his top three knocks in the history of the IPL.

3. 88(57) vs PBKS, 2022

Faf joined Bangalore as the team’s captain in the 15th edition of the lucrative league. He played a captain’s knock for RCB in their opening match of the season against the Punjab Kings, helping his side reach a total of 205/2. He made an impression in his maiden game for the team and demonstrated his value as a player and a leader for another well-known club, even though his efforts were in vain because the Bangalore bowlers did not perform their part.

2. 95*(60) vs KKR, 2021

In this game, Faf started the batting for CSK as usual, but this time it was with the talented Ruturaj Gaikwad who partnered him. Du Plessis came close to a magnificent century against Kolkata Knight Riders in the season’s 15th game, but he remained not out throughout the twenty overs. His 95* (60) contributed to the Super Kings’ first-inning 220+ run total, which they successfully defended to win the match by 18 runs.

1. 96(55) vs PBKS, 2019

The South African great scored 96 runs in just 55 balls, but the Punjab Kings overcame CSK by six wickets. Thus his heroic effort was in vain. He was dismissed by Sam Curran just before he would have reached his first century in his IPL career. His knock, which included 10 fours and 4 sixes, helped his team lead Chennai to a first-inning total of 170/5 in a massive one-man effort. Although the team lost, this was probably the finest of him in the IPL yet.
