Shreyas Iyer has been one of the best batters to emerge in the last decade. The 30-year-old from Mumbai began his IPL career with Delhi Capitals in 2015. Iyer made his debut in the game against Chennai Super Kings the young batter scored seven runs on debut. Over the next few years, Iyer became a key batter for Delhi in the league. 

After Gautam Gambhir stepped down as the captain, it was Iyer who was appointed as the new captain of the side. 3- 93 not out vs Kolkata Knight Riders – IPL 2018

In the 2018 IPL, Shreyas Iyer was handed the leadership of the team as Gambhir stepped down. Iyer and his Delhi side played KKR and managed to win the game by 55 runs after Delhi scored 219 runs for the loss of four wickets. Iyer top scored with 93 not out from 40 balls with three boundaries and ten sixes. Prithvi Shaw scored 62 off 44 balls with seven fours and two sixes. In reply, KKR were all out for 164 to lose the game by 55 runs. 

2- 96 vs Gujarat Lions – IPL 2017

Shreyas Iyer’s best ever IPL score came in the 2017 season against the short-lived Gujarat Lions side. Suresh Raina led Gujarat batted first and scored 195 runs for the loss of five wickets from 20 overs. Aaron Finch’ 69 was the top scorer for the Lions while Dinesh Karthik scored 40. Delhi Capitals won the game with two wickets in hand and two balls to spare. Iyer, scored 96 off 57 balls with 15 fours and two sixes in his knock to show early glimpses of his talent with the bat. 

1- Leading KKR to third title win 

Kolkata Knight Riders started the IPL 2024 season with three successive wins against Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and former side Delhi Capitals. KKR then lost to Chennai Super Kings to see their winning run get halted. Iyer’s side responded with a win over Lucknow before losing to Rajasthan in their next game. KKR then beat RCB for a second time and followed it up with a loss to Punjab. This was the last loss of the season for KKR as they became the first side to reach the playoffs. Kolkata then beat Hyderabad in the first qualifier and then went onto win the final match by eight wickets to take the title.
