Young batter Ruturaj Gaikwad came close to scoring his second hundred in the league during a game against Hyderabad. It was Chennai that batted first and posted a huge score of 202 on the board. Gaikwad and fellow opener Devon Conway added 182 runs for the first wicket as Conway scored 85 off 55 balls. Gaikwad, scored 99 off 57 balls with six fours and sixes before falling to T Natarajan and missing out on his ton by one run.

Chennai Super Kings had won their fourth IPL title in 2021 and one of the key reasons was Gaikwad’s batting. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s second ever IPL ton came in the 2024 season in a game against Lucknow Super Giants. CSK skipper scored 108 not out from just 60 balls with 12 fours and three sixes. Shivam Dube’s 66 helped Chennai reach 210 on the board from their 20 overs. Lucknow stunned the fans in Chennai as they romped home to an easy win by six wickets thanks to Marcus Stoinis’ 124 not out which came off 63 balls. This was the second time that Gaikwad had scored a century in the IPL and ended up on the losing side.
