Rahul Dravid's top 3 knocks in ODI Cricket

Rahul Dravid is predominantly considered a great batter because of his incredible test career. However, he is one of those few batters who scored more than 10,000 runs in both test and ODI cricket. In this article, we will take a look at the top 3 innings of Rahul Dravid in ODI cricket which exhibits his success in white ball cricket

153 vs New Zealand, 1999

Rahul Dravid’s best knock in ODI cricket came against New Zealand in Hyderabad. In the second match of the ODI series, the Indian team opted to bat first after winning the toss. Opener Sourav Ganguly lost his wicket very early in the innings but Rahul Dravid along with Sachin Tendulkar translated the initial pressure into a successful first innings.

Dravid scored 153 runs and team India ended up with a mammoth total of 376 runs. The Men in Blue won the match in the end to level the ODI series.

145 vs Sri Lanka, 1999

1999 was a rewarding year for Rahul Dravid in ODI cricket. This is another knock that he played in 1999 and this innings came on a much bigger stage, in the World Cup. Team India faced Sri Lanka in the early phase of the tournament. The defending champions put India to bat first after winning the toss with the intention of taking advantage of bowling-friendly conditions and they got an early success with Sadagoppan Ramesh’s dismissal.

However, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly cut short the celebration with a batting masterclass from the duo. Dravid’s 145-run knock was a major factor behind India’s comprehensive victory over Sri Lanka.

123* vs New Zealand, 1999

This is another century that was scored against New Zealand in 1999. Batting first India lost Sachin Tendulkar who was sent back to the pavilion for a duck. Once again Dravid stitched a crucial partnership with Sourav Ganguly to rescue India out of a difficult situation.

Rahul’s flamboyant innings created issues for the Kiwis and propelled India to a comfortable total in the first innings which could not be chased in the second innings.
