The PSL 2025 roller coaster ride is back in full swing, and it got going again with a bang! After an extended hiatus due to political changes, the league began play again on May 17, and the Karachi Kings were not about to let the embers die out. With a wild come-from-behind 2-wicket win against Peshawar Zalmi, the Kings have rocked the entire points standings, tightened the playoff race, and have made things super interesting at the end of the season. From Multan’s season-long disintegration, to Quetta’s steady hand on the tiller, and all of the knockout possibilities in the mid-tier that make a fan’s heart race – we have your full breakdown of the firing points table and where your radar should be tracking players and teams.
Karachi Kings: From Chaos to Contenders

Karachi was the wildcard in a poker game of playoffs — bluffing, building, believing. Now, after the Kings’ win against Zalmi, they have, at least, a better idea of whether they can secure the playoffs and postseason. They now stand with 12 points, along with a good net run rate. They have also overtaken Islamabad United and are looking to finish in the top two.
The return of overseas stars like David Warner and James Vince couldn’t have come at a better time. Vince played the consummate innings in a nervy chase while Warner’s experience played an advantage at the top and allowed Karachi to settle into their innings for one last push vs Zalmi. The Kings’ bowlers, led by old-stager Imad Wasim, turned the pressure on Zalmi, even when they understandably added surprising components to chasing late.
Quetta Stays Calm While the League Goes Wild

Amid everything else, Quetta Gladiators have been the quiet exterminators of PSL 2025. With 13 points from 9 matches, they sit on top of the table, and with their playoff ticket in hand, they have done it in style. They sit with a record of 6 wins, 1 no-result, and 2 losses from their group stage matches, making their consistency as a side unassailable.
What defines this Quetta side is not the one-man heroics but rather their collective harmony. They have options with their batting and flexibility with their bowling, every player is contributing, and captain Rilee Rossouw has led them like a general with a cool head. The PSL has been known traditionally for chaos and unpredictability, but Quetta has been the total opposite; they are fit as a fiddle, diligent, balanced, and perhaps purposely under the radar.
Multan’s Mess, Lahore’s Lifeline & Zalmi’s Slip

Now for the other end of the spectrum. Multan Sultans have gone from potential champions in waiting to the biggest disappointment of PSL 2025, with only one win from nine matches. Their net run rate is -2.708, and they will not make it to the playoffs. Their bowling, which was a strong suit for them, is giving away runs at will like a tap without a washer, especially at the death.
At the same time, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi are both feeling the heat. After Zalmi lost to Karachi, they still sit with eight points. Lahore, with seven points, has an opportunity but no latitude. They’re sprinting out of group matches, and there is a shootout going on for fourth.
The issue for Zalmi? Consistency. They have shown bright patches of talent, but have not been able to bank together their victories. Lahore is scrappy. They can still make it if Fakhar Zaman or Shaheen Shah Afridi demonstrate their value, but they cannot be mediocre.
One thing is certain: this PSL is not for the faint-hearted. With only four league games remaining and everything still to play for, who do you think will make it through? And who do you think will choke? Let us know in the comments!
