PSL 2025: Predicting Peshawar Zalmi’s Playing XI for their clash against Multan Sultans

The ‘struggling’ and ‘down and out’ Peshawar Zalmi will take on the ‘number five’ Multan Sultans in the ninth game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2025 (PSL 2025). The game will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Saturday, April 19, at 8:30 PM (IST).

Peshawar Zalmi are currently placed in the last six spot on the tournament standings, with two consecutive defeats in their two games so far. They are coming off a massive 102-run defeat against the Islamabad United in the last game, following an 80-run defeat against the Quetta Gladiators. In their campaign opener.

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the predicted playing XI of Peshawar Zalmi for their next clash against Multan Sultans.

Openers 

The opening pair of skipper Babar Azam and young batter Saim Ayub might start the innings for Zalmi in the next game against Multan Sultans. The duo failed to give a big opening start to their side in the first two games so far. 

But the Babar-Saim duo will aim to come up with a blistering start against the Sultans to help Peshawar Zalmi register their first win in the tournament’s current edition. Notably, the young Southpaw Saim Ayub can also make a big difference with his amazing hitting abilities, alongside having an anchor support from the skipper Babar Azam. 

Middle-Order

The middle-order of the Zalmi is expected to start with the number three batter Mitchell Owen, who amazed everyone with his sensational performances in the Big Bash League 2024-25 earlier this year. Owen will be followed by the star in-form wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris at number four. 

Haris smashed 87 runs off just 47 balls, with 12 fours and four sixes against Islamabad United. However, his valiant efforts went in vain as Zalmi eventually lost the game by a huge margin of 102 runs. Later in the middle-order, Tom Kohler-Cadmore at number five, might also play a vital role with the bat, scoring some impactful runs in the death overs. 

All-Rounders 

The all-rounder duo for Zalmi in their playing XI against Sultans might include Hussain Talat and George Linde. Hussain Talat scalped 2 wickets in his three overs with the ball in the previous game against Sultans. He could also leave an amazing impact with the bat as well, while batting lower down the order. 

Besides him, George Linde will also be there to bat at number seven and bowl some crucial overs in the middle overs. Besides that, he can also contribute with some crucial overs with the ball to provide important success for his side in the upcoming game against Multan Sultans. 

Bowlers 

Peshawar Zalmi are expected to field three pacers in the playing XI, including the likes of Alzarri Joseph, Mohammad Ali, and Ali Raza. Alzarri was the only bowler for Zalmi, who conceded runs with an economy of less than 10. He scalped 2 wickets at 39 runs in four overs.

Besides him, Mohammad Ali and Ali Raza will also be there to support Alzarri Joseph in the pace-bowling department. The pace trio is also expected to get some support from the specialist spinner, Sufyan Muqeem, whose spin-bowling might be a game-changer in Zalmi’s favour against the Multan Sultans.
