Babar Azam led Peshawar Zalmi began their PSL 2025 season with a huge loss to Quetta Gladiators. Peshawar lost by a massive margin of 80 runs as they were bowled out for just 136 runs while chasing the 217 runs they needed to win the game. Barring Saim Ayub who scored 50 none of the batters were able to put up a fight.
Skipper Babar Azam was out after scoring a duck when he was caught by Rilee Rossouw off Mohammad Amir. Hussain Talat with 35 and Mitchell Owen’s 13-ball 31 were the only notable contributions with the bat for the Peshawar side. In the next game, the Zalmi are set to take on PSL champions Islamabad United who started the season with a win over Lahore Qalandars.
Here is the likely PZ XI vs ISL in the upcoming PSL 2025 game
Top order – Saim Ayub and Babar Azam

Young Saim Ayub made his return to cricket after being on the sidelines for the last months due to injury. Ayub scored 50 off 38 balls with the help of three boundaries and four sixes. The left-handed batter was the only saving grace for his side with his fighting knock. Babar Azam on the other hand will look for a quick turnaround in form after being dismissed for a duck.
Middle Order – Mohammad Haris, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Hussain Talat

One of the key areas where Peshawar would want to get better is the middle-order. Mohammad Haris scored 13 runs and considering the talent he has, the Zalmi side will want Haris to score more runs. Tom Kohler-Cadmore was out for a duck when he was dismissed by Abrar Ahmed. The English star has been spoken about as one of the better T20 batters in domestic cricket and will want to prove his worth. Hussain Talat was the second-best batter for Peshawar as he hit 35 off just 19 balls with two boundaries and three sixes.
Lower-order- Max Bryant, Mitchell Owen, Alzarri Joseph
