PSL 2025: Predicting Multan Sultans’ Playing XI for their clash against Peshawar Zalmi

Multan Sultans will take on the Peshawar Zalmi in the ninth match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2025 (PSL 2025). The game will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Saturday, April 19. It will be a crucial and must-win game for the Sultans to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.

The Mohammad Rizwan-led side is coming off a 47-run defeat against the Islamabad United in the last game, following a 4-wicket defeat against the Karachi Kings in their campaign opener. They will aim to win this game against Zalmi and get off the mark in the tournament.

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the predicted playing XI of the Multan Sultans for their next clash against Peshawar Zalmi.

Openers – Mohammad Rizwan (C&WK) and Shai Hope

The opening pair of the Multan Sultans might be the same as the pair of skipper Mohammad Rizwan and the Caribbean batter Shai Hope are expected to start the innings. However, the duo failed in the last game against Islamabad United. But they will be eyeing a strong comeback in the next game against Peshawar Zalmi.

Skipper Rizwan played a crucial knock of 38 runs off 27 balls, with three fours and a six. But this knock went in vain as his side eventually lost the game by 47 runs. So, he will also look ahead to convert his good start into a big knock.

Middle-Order – Usman Khan, Kamran Ghulam, Michael Bracewell, and Iftikhar Ahmed

Iftikhar Ahmed

The middle order of the Sultans is expected to start with the number three batter Usman Khan, who scored a quick 31 runs off just 20 balls, with three fours and two sixes. He will be followed by the star batter Kamran Ghulam at number four. Ghulam scored 17 runs off 13 balls, with one four and a six in the last game, but failed to score a big knock.

Later in the middle order, Michael Bracewell will be there to bat at number five; he scored 16 runs off 10 balls, with one four and a six against the United. The veteran middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed might come to bat at number six for the Sultans; he also played a knock of 32 runs off 26 balls, with two fours and two sixes.

All-Rounder – David Willey

David Willey

The veteran bowling all-rounder David Willey is expected to be included in the playing XI as a specialist all-rounder. He can score some crucial runs with the bat in the death overs, alongside bowling a few important overs with the ball to help his side with a breakthrough in the game.

In the last game against United, Willey was the only bowler for Multan Sultans to register an economy rate of 7.00. He scalped a wicket at 21 runs in his three-over stint. So, the Englishman could make it to the final XI as an all-rounder.

Bowlers – Chris Jordan, Usama Mir, Mohammad Hasnain, and Ubaid Shah

The bowling attack of the Sultans might include three out-and-out pacers, Chris Jordan, Mohammad Hasnain, and Ubaid Shah. Jordan scalped 2 wickets in the last game against United, alongside a wicket each bagged by Mohammad Hasnain and Ubaid Shah.

The pace trio will be accompanied by the specialist spinner Usama Mir, who was one of the two bowlers for his side to concede runs below the economy rate of 8 in the last game. He scalped a wicket at 31 runs in his 4-over stint, with an economy rate of 7.75.
