Predicting West Indies’ Playing XI for their 3rd T20I against England

Two-time T20 World Cup winners West Indies have already lost their first two games in the five-match T20I series to England. Rovman Powell and his team have to win the third game on Wednesday to be played in St. Lucia to keep their hopes alive. One good news is that fast bowler Alzarri Joseph is back after serving his two-match suspension.

In the first game, Phil Salt’s brutal assault helped the visitors win the game with relative ease. In the second match, returning skipper Jos Buttler saw his team coast to an easy win with 31 balls to spare.

Speaking at the end of the game, Rovman Powell said “If you lose three in the powerplay, you end up on the losing side. Case of somebody in the top four batting the majority of the overs. It’s something we think about and something I try to rectify as captain. St Lucia provides a new challenge”

Here is the likely West Indies XI vs England

Top order – Brandon King and Evin Lewis

One of the biggest problems for West Indies has been the form of their openers. Both Brandon King and Evin Lewis are known for their ability to play aggressive brand of cricket. When in form the duo can dominate any attack but the English bowlers have been successful in keeping the two West Indian batters quiet.

Middle Order – Nicholas Pooran, Roston Chase, and Rovman Powell

After a terrific 2024, it seems the blazing blade of Nicholas Pooran has finally begun to cool down. The left-handed batter would need to show spark with the bat if his team has to win the game and keep their series alive. Veteran duo Roston Chase and Rovman Powell will also have to step up a gear. The captain in particular has to do more than what he is asked for to infuse confidence in his team.

Lower-order – Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, and Gudakesh Motie

West Indian lower order trio of Rutherford, Shepherd, and Motie have been fairly consistent and on occasion the saviors of the side. The trio knows that they have to put their hands up once more to help their side win the game against a marauding England side.

Tail enders – Alzarri Joseph, Terrence Hinds, and Akeal Hosein

Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph would want to steam into the bowl and show his side what they have been missing in the last few games. The right-arm pacer can trouble the England batters with his bounce and extra pace. Terrence Hinds and Akeal Hosein need to reproduce the form they showed in CPL 2024 and put the home team back on track.
