Predicting TSK’s Playing XI for the Qualifier 2 Match in MLC 2025

With a good victory over the Seattle Orcas, the Texas Super Kings are on their way to a key Qualifier 2 matchup in MLC 2025. Coming off a dominant performance, TSK is full of confidence and form, but there is still a challenge ahead, and they want their chance in the final. As players are in great condition, and teams and supporters alike circle the date, there’s plenty of excitement brewing for what should be another incredible matchup.

Openers

Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis has been a fixture opening the batting for TSK, and in the last match, he showed everyone with a 91 off 52 balls (6 fours, 4 sixes) why he still remains one of the most dangerous T20 openers that is still out there. Faf showed a measure of controlled aggression during his innings.

Smit Patel, even if Faf does hog the limelight, is well deserving of his place. He hadn’t scored in the last match, just getting 18 off 20 overall, but has been a steady starter, getting some reasonable starts in all matches in the tournament. He is a good “utility value” as a wicketkeeper-batter at the top of the order and works well with Faf.

Middle Order

Shubham Ranjane

Last match, Shubham Ranjane’s 65 not out off 41 balls was vital in holding the middle overs together and pushing the scoring along. His strike rate of 158.53 indicates he could not only hold the innings but also raise the tempo even more. He will be important again in the event of another early collapse.

Donovan Ferreira didn’t deliver against Seattle, getting out for 3, but his potential at 8-10 in the order can not be discounted when you need explosive or unexpected firepower lower down the list. He complements the lower order with the sort of late-order fireworks that can see you add 20-30 runs very quickly—just the wildcard you need in a knockout.

All-Rounders

Marcus Stoinis

Much of the side’s equilibrium is anchored by Marcus Stoinis. His last game saw him only bowl two overs and score 2, so some might question his inclusion, but he is too valuable to have in the team with either bat or ball. His potential for power down the order and taking wickets in the middle are unique in any T20 setup.

While Calvin Savage was not called on with bat or ball in the last game, he could still make the XI because of his versatility. But Akeal Hosein will almost certainly take that second all-rounder’s position. His left-arm spin returned figures of 2/24 in a tight four overs, and his subtle variations in pace can stifle any batting unit during the middle overs. He poses a real threat on slower surfaces.

Bowlers

Adam Milne

One of the tournament’s finest spells came from Adam Milne, who took 5 wickets for 23 runs against Seattle. He was fast and bouncy in a way that made batters in both the top and middle orders uncomfortable. Given the reporting from Dallas, and that seamers still like early match conditions, Milne will be TSK’s trump card.

Showing maturity beyond his years, Noor Ahmad claimed 2 wickets while conceding just 26 runs in 4 overs under pressure. And, not only does his unexplained googly confuse the top players like Klaasen and Hetmyer, but Noor’s role at the middle-overs enforcer for TSK is critical past the powerplay start.

With Faf firing, Ranjane in form, and Milne striking well, TSK certainly look sharp and prepared. If their stars shine again, they could be heading for a place in the MLC 2025 final. All eyes now shift to Dallas.
