The 2025 season of Pakistan Super League has begun with a bang with defending champions Islamabad United winning their first game of the season. Shadab Khan and his side beat Shaheen Afridi led Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets. It was an easy day in the park for Islamabad who didn’t need to break any sweat as they won the contest with 14 balls to spare.
Peshawar Zalmi on the other hand began their PSL 2025 season with a huge loss by 80 runs to Quetta Gladiators on Saturday. Babar Azam’s side conceded 216 on the board as the bowlers failed to stop Finn Allen and Saud Shakeel as the two Quetta batters destroyed the bowling attack. With the bat, it was only Saim Ayub with his 50 off 38 balls that was able to stand up to the Gladiators’ bowling.
Here are the likely top 3 performers from Peshawar vs Islamabad
3- Jason Holder

Veteran West Indian star Jason Holder was the best bowler for Islamabad United with figures of 4 for 26 from his four overs. Holder broke the back of Lahore’s batting to bowl them out for 138. Holder began with the wicket of Mohammed Naeem for eight runs from 11 balls. The right-arm seamer then got the wicket of Jahandad Khan for a duck who was caught by Riley Meredith. Holder then got the wickets for David Wiese and Shaheen Afridi to end Lahore’s innings.
2- Saim Ayub

One of the best young batters in Pakistan, left-handed batter Saim Ayub played a lone hand with the bat for Peshawar against Quetta. Ayub kept scoring runs despite losing his partners at the other end. Ayub was out after scoring 50 runs but that wasn’t enough as Peshawar lost the game by 80 runs. In their current form, Ayub could be one of the players for his side against Islamabad in the next game.
1- Colin Munro

Veteran batter Colin Munro was the top scorer for Islamabad against Lahore with 59 runs. His unbeaten knock came off just 42 runs with seven fours and a six. Munro has been one of the most attacking batters in the T20 format and is still a very potent batter. Munro batted at number three for Islamabad and batted well with Salman Agha to guide his team to an easy in the first game of the season.
