Predicting NRK’s Playing XI for the 16th Match against SMP in TNPL 2025

Openers

In terms of ability, before his other top-order batsman, D Santhosh Kumar, is a very explosive opener, in that he can change the game early. He scored a rapid 73 runs off just 36 balls vs Salem in the last game, and his ability to take the attack to the opposition was evidenced by his strike rate of over 200. Santhosh’s aggressive shot-making ability and ability to clear the boundary make him the perfect candidate to set the tone for NRK’s innings.

Filling in behind him could be PS Nirmal Kumar, who also scored 37 not out, relatively slowly in that match. Nirmal’s style of batting suits that of Santhosh’s aggression – he can rotate the strike very well and generally has a way of finding the gaps. Nirmal’s calm nature make him a consistent partner to maintain the momentum after such a blistering start.

Middle Order 

The middle order will put their faith in Arun Karthik, the team captain, who brings a wealth of experience and tactical knowledge. Although Karthik did not bat in the last match, he has shown through previous innings to be a dependable presence, coming into bat when there have been early wickets. Karthik’s skill to manipulate his innings, build partnerships, and accelerate the scoring towards the death of the innings gives him some hope to ensure the NRK innings is settled.

Another middle-order player showing promise is wicketkeeper Rithik Easwaran, who earlier showed explosive batting when he scored a quickfire 13* off 7 balls. Rithik will be used at the lower order, so if he can produce 8 to 10 overs of rapid scoring, this will be vital to give NRK finishing power, allowing for options in chasing down or setting scores.

All-Rounders

Sachin Rathi was named the Player of the Match for taking 5 wickets against Salem, and is the perfect all-rounder NRK can rely on. He bowled so tightly while claiming essential wickets, and batted effectively to provide balance to the side. Rathi is extremely valuable to NRK as he consistently breaks partnerships with his excellent spell of bowling.

In addition to Rathi, Sonu Yadav gives extra all-around capabilities. His batting may not add value currently; however, he has bowled well, kept it tight, and maintained pressure on the in-batters. These two all-rounders provide NRK the option and flexibility to adjust their strategy depending on the circumstances of the match.

Bowlers

Sachin Rathi spearheads NRK’s bowling attack with his lethal wicket-taking ability, as seen through his figure of 5/17 against Salem. Rathi’s control and variations always keep him a threat, especially in the powerplay and middle overs.

Rocky Bhasker is another dangerous bowler who always maintains control of his bowling and can take wickets at the most critical moments. His 1/17 off 4 overs provided a glimpse of his ability to restrict scoring whilst providing the threat of taking wickets. Together with Rathi, Bhasker makes a dangerous bowling combination that can destroy any batting lineup.
