Predicting GAW’s Playing XI for the Final Match Against RAR in GSL 2025

The stage is set for the blockbuster final of the Global Super League 2025, as the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) are ready to face off with the Rampaging Royals (RAR). After a commanding four-wicket win over the Hurricanes, GAW seem to be hitting a rich vein of form, both bat and ball are doing what they need to do at just the right time. With a combination of power hitters, experienced all-rounders, and dangerous bowlers in their squad, GAW will pose a significant threat.

Openers

Shimron Hetmyer

Shimron Hetmyer should lead off one of the openers for the final. Hetmyer batted in the No. 4 position last match, but his explosive 39 in 10 balls, including two sixes, showed that Hetmyer can ignite a GAW innings. I believe there is more upside for powerplay damage with Hetmyer batting at the top – whether it pays off or not remains to be seen.

I would continue with Johnson Charles alongside Hetmyer as my other opener. Johnson did not do much in the last match (8 off 4), but I want to see him swing away again. Charles is an aggressive early batsman, and if he gets going as he can at this level, it can be damaging with bat and ball combined, especially with Providence being a surface that supports clean hitting.

Middle Order

Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali has progressively carried the middle-order of the GAW. His performance of 30 not out off 36 in the last game does not look great, but it was a great innings for the team chasing runs. Moeen can soak up pressure and can change gears when necessary. We do need Moeen if we want him to be at his best, particularly in the final.

That applies equally to Rahmanullah Gurbaz. He scored only 7 in the last game, but he has the class and experience to recover quickly. He also has value as a wicketkeeper. In general, tough competitors like Gurbaz tend to show up under big, conditions situations.

All-Rounders

Gudakesh Motie

The MVP of GAW’s recent match goes to Gudakesh Motie. His 3/9 knocked over the Hurricanes’ middle order and then backed it up with a vital 19 runs off 13 balls — a perfect example of the match-winning all-rounder! His lower-order hitting and left-arm spin bowling are indispensable.

Dwaine Pretorius also provides important balance. He took a wicket early with the new ball and provided significant batting depth, although he wasn’t needed in the chase. He shines brightest in the pressure cooker of big moments.

Bowlers

Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir has been GAW’s X-factor from the start and just showed us why by getting two important wickets while bowling fabulous craft and style. Every time batters try and get after him, he still finds a way to pick up wickets when it matters most.

David Wiese deserves a lot of praise as well because while his stats say 2 overs for 11 runs, he bowled well, and he will have to against RAR’s aggressive batting line-up as well. The importance of Wiese’s accuracy when the heat is on cannot be overstated.

The path for GAW to the final has been characterized by explosive hitting, smart bowling, and big-match temperament. They have the full complement of weapons to beat RAR through players like Hetmyer, Motie, and Moeen Ali, all firing. If this XI plays to their potential, we could see the Amazon Warriors lift the GSL 2025 trophy at Providence. Strap yourselves in — the final will be fireworks.
