Predicting England’s Playing XI for their 4th ODI match against Australia

England head to Lord’s to play the 4th day ODI against Australia on Friday with a positive frame of mind. Harry Brook and his side won the 3rd game on Wednesday thanks to their superior run rate. The game was decided via the Duckworth and Lewis method with the home team ahead on runs when it began to rain.

With the win on Wednesday, the series now stands at 2-1 with one final game to be played on Sunday. Harry Brook will hope that his team can keep the momentum against the ODI World Cup winners and take the series into a decider.

It was also a game to remember for Harry Brook as he scored his maiden ODI century. The right-handed batter led from the front as the visitors yet again got England’s top order in trouble during the 3rd ODI.

Here is England’s likely XI for the 4th ODI vs Australia

Openers – Phil Salt and Ben Duckett

Left-handed batter Ben Duckett has been in fine form with the bat in the Test format. This got him a spot in the ODI team for the Australia series and Ben Duckett has been good so far. Barring his failure in the 3rd game, Duckett has given England a good start and will want to get back to his best form. Phil Salt’s lack of runs will worry England as the right-handed batter has seen his batting form slump.

Middle-order – Harry Brook and Jamie Smith

England skipper Harry Brook was the best batter in the 3rd ODI as he scored 110 not out from 94 balls. Home fans will hope that the young batter can keep going with the bat, show good leadership skills and pull off yet another win. The wicketkeeper duties will be carried on by Jamie Smith who has made a solid start to his ODI cricket career.

All-rounders – Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell

Will Jacks was at his aggressive best with the bat as he scored 84 off 82 balls. He also did a decent job with the ball to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne for a duck. Liam Livingstone yet again proved why he is a feared white ball player. The right-handed batter hit 33 off 20 balls to give England the advantage during the rain-hit chase. With the ball, he bowled 3 overs and got the scalp of Glenn Maxwell for 30. Jacob Bethell has seen their reputation grow as he bowled 5 overs and got the wicket of Cameron Green but didn’t get a chance to bat.

Bowlers – Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, and Matthew Potts

Matthew Potts didn’t pick any wicket in the last game while Brydon Carse got 1 wicket. The two pacers will hope to do well and keep their places in the side ahead of the final game on Sunday. Jofra Archer was expensive as he was hit for 67 runs from his ten overs. The right-arm pacer got the wickets of Matthew Short and Steven Smith. Adil Rashid was wicketless from his ten overs but with the experience he has the veteran star will look to bounce back in style.

Likely England XI for 4th ODI

Phil Salt, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Harry Brook (Captain), Liam Livingstone, Jamie Smith, Jacob Bethell, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, and Matthew Potts.
