Predicting CSG’s Playing XI for the 25th Match against SMP in TNPL 2025

The 25th match of TNPL 2025 will see Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) take on SMP in what is a must-win game for CSG. They just knocked off the Trichy Grand Cholas in exciting fashion with a 4-run win and will look to ride their momentum and secure a crucial second win. As both teams are fighting for a playoff spot, they will be bringing their best, so this should be a very exciting and anticipated match!

Openers

K Aashiq

The openers will need to provide a platform for CSG. Mokit Hariharan is an in-form opener and scored a blistering 25 from 16 balls against Trichy with 3 fours and a six at an impressive strike rate of 156.25. His aggressive shot-making in the powerplay and his ability to capitalise on the overs are just what a CSG needs for an explosive start.

K Aashiq is a good addition at the top of the order. Aashiq did score 5 from 7 balls in the last game, but you can’t underestimate Aashiq’s experience to steady innings under new-ball pressure, and he acts as an anchor for Mokit. Together, they bring an aggressive and steady temperament, which is what CSG needs to set the stage.

Middle Order

Baba Aparajith

Captain Baba Aparajith will be central to CSG’s middle order and will be responsible for guiding the innings into the hitting phase, previous to his innings-defining innings of 63 off 40 balls, with 7 sixes. Aprajith’s ability to ramp up the innings without overexerting himself means that he can provide the team momentum, while also maintaining some structure.

Vijay Shankar will be another lynchpin of the middle order, who scored a very solid 59 in 46 balls at a strike rate of 128.26 and took an important wicket with the ball. Shankar gives the team very good flexibility with going up and down the batting order, as well as being able to contribute with the ball.

All-Rounders

Vijay Shankar

Vijay Shankar is a genuine all-rounder; however, CSG does have some bowling all-rounders on their team. Abhishek Tanwar has not been in great batting form lately, making only 9 runs in his last game, but the rounder was able to deliver a tight spell in his last outing, only conceding 41 runs in his 4 overs while being able to take important wickets.

Rohith Suthar, another all-round contributor, had limited opportunities with the bat but was able to make an impact with the ball, taking a wicket for 22 runs in his 2 overs. These are the kinds of players who give flexibility and can impact the game, or even out of the blue snatch victory through a timely breakthrough and valuable late-order runs.

Bowlers

M Silambarasan

J Prem Kumar was the main man for us in bowling with a brilliant 3 wickets for 42 runs. His ability to break partnerships and put pressure on the batters with his economical spells will be important against SMP’s batting.

M Silambarasan showed his worth too, taking 1 wicket for only 19 runs in 4 overs at an economy of 4.75. His accuracy and ability to bowl at key moments are dangerous for the opposition. These two bowlers are a strong combination and can restrict the opposition and take wickets at key moments.

CSG’s combination of in-form batters and strong all-rounders, as well as bowlers like Prem Kumar and Silambarasan, gives them a great chance to keep their winning streak alive. Chepauk Super Gillies, with their balanced XI, look set to challenge SMP and add another crucial victory to their TNPL 2025 season.
