Predicted Playing XI of Trinbago Knight Riders in Match 17 of CPL 2026 against Saint Lucia Kings

Predicted Playing XI of Trinbago Knight Riders in Match 17 of CPL 2026 against Saint Lucia Kings

The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) will look to return to winning ways when they take on the Saint Lucia Kings in Match 17 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026. The contest is scheduled to be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Thursday, August 27.

TKR, the defending champions, began their campaign with a rain-affected victory over the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots before suffering a five-wicket defeat against the Jamaica Kingsmen. They then faced another setback against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, who chased down 166 with five wickets in hand.

Nicholas Pooran’s side will therefore be eager to get back on track in front of their home supporters. Despite their recent defeats, TKR possess a formidable combination of experienced campaigners and exciting young talent. Based on their recent selections, they are unlikely to make major changes to their playing XI.

Top-order: Colin Munro, Alex Hales, Nicholas Pooran (C & WK)

Colin Munro is likely to continue opening the batting alongside Alex Hales. The experienced New Zealand left-hander has struggled for consistency early in the tournament, but his ability to dominate the powerplay makes him difficult to leave out.

Hales, meanwhile, remains one of the biggest threats in the TKR batting line-up. His ability to attack pace from the outset could be particularly important against the Saint Lucia Kings’ new-ball attack.

Nicholas Pooran will continue to captain the side and keep wickets. The explosive left-hander has already demonstrated his ability to change the course of a T20 game and will be expected to play the role of aggressor in the middle overs.

Pooran scored 44 off 32 balls against Jamaica Kingsmen and remains one of TKR’s most important batting weapons.

Middle-order: Matthew Breetzke, Kieron Pollard, Jyd Goolie, Sunil Narine

Matthew Breetzke is likely to retain his place at No. 4. The South African-born batter has already shown glimpses of his ability in CPL 2026 and provides flexibility in the middle order.

Veteran Kieron Pollard should continue at No. 5. Pollard’s experience in Caribbean conditions and his ability to clear the boundary make him an invaluable presence, particularly during the death overs.

Jyd Goolie could slot in at No. 6. The Trinidadian batter provides another aggressive option and can also give the team additional flexibility depending on the match situation.

Sunil Narine is almost certain to retain his place. The mystery spinner remains one of TKR’s most reliable options with the ball and can also provide explosive cameos with the bat.

Narine’s ability to bowl during the powerplay and middle overs could be especially important against a Saint Lucia batting line-up containing players such as Roston Chase and Charith Asalanka.

Bowlers: Terrance Hinds, Akeal Hosein, Usman Tariq, Nathan Edward

Terrance Hinds has emerged as an important bowling option for TKR and is expected to retain his place. He has already been among the team’s leading wicket-takers, with four wickets in the early stages of the competition.

Akeal Hosein should partner Narine as the second frontline spinner. His experience and control can help TKR squeeze the opposition through the middle overs.

Usman Tariq is another strong contender to retain his place. The spinner impressed against Jamaica Kingsmen, claiming three wickets while conceding only 21 runs from his four overs.

Nathan Edward is likely to complete the XI as the fourth specialist bowling option and provide additional depth with the bat. He was part of TKR’s XI against both Jamaica and Antigua, suggesting that the management continues to trust him.

Predicted TKR Playing XI vs Saint Lucia Kings

Colin Munro, Alex Hales, Nicholas Pooran (c & wk), Matthew Breetzke, Kieron Pollard, Jyd Goolie, Sunil Narine, Terrance Hinds, Akeal Hosein, Usman Tariq, Nathan Edward
